How endovenous laser ablation works

Endovenous laser ablation closes an affected vein from within. The clinic uses a Lasotronix Smart 1940 nm laser and single-use MedFibers radial fibres. The doctor inserts the fibre through a puncture and checks its position with ultrasound. The method and treatment area are selected after examination and duplex ultrasound.

Questions about EVLA

Does endovenous laser ablation hurt?
No. The procedure is performed under local tumescent anaesthesia. You may feel touch and mild pressure. A dedicated pump delivers the anaesthetic gently.
When can you go back to work?
Most patients return to normal activities almost immediately. Walking is encouraged from the same day, and extended sick leave is rarely needed.
Are compression stockings needed?
Yes. Compression stockings are worn for a period after EVLA. The doctor will advise how long based on the extent of treatment.
Will varicose veins return after laser?
A vein closed by laser does not reopen. Prevention and periodic follow-up with a phlebologist help identify any new varicose veins.
